My friend Martin passed along some interesting news the other day.
We all know Google is the big dog in the search game. That huge advantage has taken on a slightly new face in the search market space. It’s called mobile search market share.
Google Mobile Search Dominance

It only makes sense, right? The search engine that has the largest piece of the search pie would naturally take the largest piece of the mobile pie too.
What I found interesting was the 8% odd points more share within the Mobile space.
My guess is that their hugely popular “Google search” app on phones makes that difference. (It’s a neat app you can search by voice – at least on the iPhone).
So… here’s MY question for affiliates.
Is there any advantage in building mobile only websites VS building traditional websites that utilize a plugin or script that make them mobile ready?

Hello Dustin,
My take on this is that, even with the popularity of mobile search apps and the browsing experience on mobile pones, i still think people would prefer to view web pages on a computer or laptop. Webpages are of all types and formats and not all of them can be ‘properly’ viewed on mobile phones.
The best way to go, IMO, is still to build web pages that are optimized for mobile platforms too.
another issue, I registered with your blog because of the webinar you held, but I have not been able to log on to view the individual lessons, like this one-http://dustinbow.com/putitalltogether. When I try to log on, it says i have an invalid username or password.
Can you please help me rectify this or give me an option to change the password. i would be really grateful as I found your webinar on picking niches quite helpful.
Thank you.
Hello Dustin,
Tried to find a way to contact you directly without going open such as a reply in a blog post. For some reason you have made it difficult to contact you. Odd as this is a standard feature on any website. Hope you moderate these posts. This is meant for you only and the following has nothing to do with this blog post.
Your website and method lacks user friendless and basic logic. I don’t mind how plain and minimalistic your website is, in fact I thought that was a unique way to distance yourself from your competitors. After spending some time here I realize your method is just crude and lacks a common sense approach. Let’s talk about your sign up process and your emails for each lesson.
Login again.
1) You sign up and get access.
2) You receive emails on a regular basis telling what the next great lesson is.
3) Click on the link inside each of these emails and what do you get? A message “YOU DON”T HAVE AUTHORIZATION TO ACCESS THIS AREA” or like message.
4) Another link to click for the promise of access.
5) This takes you to a pre-sale page.
6) Another link that tells you have to sign up for free.
7) Next page you can sign up or now if you look hard enough you see there is an option to login if you have an account.
9) Now you have access to the first lesson.
10) If the email you have been sent is for lesson 2,3,4 or 5 and you have already read the priors you can’t jump to the lesson described in the email. If you want lesson 5 you have to go through lessons 1-4 to get there.
12) Forced to scroll to the bottom of lesson 1 and click on the next lesson.
13) Forced to scroll to the bottom of lesson 2 and click on the next lesson.
14) Forced to scroll to the bottom of lesson 3 and click on the next lesson.
15) Forced to scroll to the bottom of lesson 4 and click on the next lesson.
Then every time you login in you get an auto responder thanking you for signing up, again.
Seriously Dustin WTF?
Follow your own method of receiving the email about lesson 5 and count how many clicks and the login process to actually get to what you offered in the email. Damn.
This FUBAR method is very embarrassing for you. It just displays a mindset that makes one very unlikely to take your content seriously. Speaking of content do you realize that you make references to certain Google features on their search page that hasn’t been in existence for almost 2 years? Are you serious when you tell someone in Lesson 4 about your keyword discovery process that you manually right down multiple URL’s? That instead of copy / paste into a spreadsheet where it can be easily sorted, filtered, edited and more important easily pasted back when you need to? Are you really telling people to physically write down all of this on paper?
Dude I’m not a hater but you seriously need to overhaul. Unsubscribing.
Jim
Hi Jim,
Thanks for your shared concerns. While we may not see eye to eye on the sevarity, or even tactfulness, I agree that any fixable tech problems should be fixed.
Here’s what I’ve done to rectify those remarks that were “tech” issue related.
1. All members now have a place to login! Imagine that. You can login from either the home page or the blog page in the sidebar. (You were logging in with the registration form – that’s why you got multiple emails.)
2. After login you’re taken to the home page – There you’ll see links to EACH Great Lesson as you so kindly put it. It’s a Table of Contents so to speak.
3. Login link added to “You Don’t Have Access” page. Now instead of having to click the home page link (which was very un-intuitive) to login, you can simply click a link to that brings you to the home page where you can login.
As for the emails – Each lesson notification is sent with a link that takes you directly to the lesson. If you did not log out the last time you were here you’ll see the correct page. If you have logged out, well then you’ll just have to login again to see the lesson. It’s the only way for me to seperate those that truly want to read the content from those that don’t see the value in it.
In regards to the Keyword Research Lesson – what may I ask did I refer to that doesn’t exist anymore? I wrote that lesson a couple days ago taking screenshots in Google while I did the process. All images are current as of 8/1/2010.
Also – where I recommend taking notes of urls – you can do this however you please. Copy paste, write on paper, it doesn’t matter. I’m not a micro-manager
Thought that was implied but I’ll clarify that for future readers.
Take care,
Dustin
Hey Ade!
I appreciate your comment.
Yes, I’ve been notified of some of the tech issues regarding logging in to read the affiliate marketing guide (see comment from Jim aka Tom Open).
You now have an easy to access login area in the sidebar of the site. You’ll find a link here that says “forgot your password.” You can click that and you’ll receive your login info by email.
FYI – I went ahead and reset your user / pass for you (just to save you some time). That should have been emailed to you (be sure to check junk mail folder just in case). Go ahead and use that info in the login area.
Wow, it’s ironic he says he’s not a “hater”, I’d go with “winer”, or “jerk”. Nothing like looking for a reason to complain, especially since the mistakes were his–never ceases to amaze me how people will insult people who are giving free and VALUABLE, actual Money-Making content. So Jimmy, get a life!
Personally I found the free guide better than ANY of the specialty E-Book “Secret Guides” I’ve ever purchased, so thanks alot and I can’t wait until the next lessons.
I’ve not heard you speak before, but based on your guide I’d like to; where can I go to hear one of your other or previous lessons?
thanks a lot,
Chris
